This week, RWM is featuring the newly engaged Nicole from her blog, RunnerNic…well, the name is under construction, but if you keep reading you’ll find out all about it! This running blog has recently taken a turn toward the wedding side! So read up to follow her training, racing and now, tons of exciting wedding preparation!
1. Tell us a bit about your blog?
I LOVE blogging! Its such a great form of keeping track of what’s going on in your life. Blogging has truly opened my eyes to other forms of social networking. I’ve met some pretty awesome people through my blog & I’m excited to see what the new year will bring!
I started blogging in January 2008. I didn’t really know what to talk about at first & had a hard time finding my niche. I read a lot of family oriented blogs that talk about kids, home projects & day-to-day funny stories. I don’t have a family of my own yet so this was tricky.
In summer of 2008, my blog turned mostly about running and less about things that were happening in my life. By fall 2008, I was pretty obsessed with running again & it was all I could talk about. At this point, I started getting comments from lots of runners from all over the country & I started to explore the blogging community. Its funny how my little blog has evolved into something I’m not sure I could ever live with out.
Over the holiday, my then boyfriend, now fiance Brian proposed! My blogging world has done a 360. It went from being totally about running back to more about whats going on in my life. I’m trying to find a way to incorporate bride & running in my title, but haven’t found the right idea just yet. Hopefully I will soon because I cant stop thinking about it!
Running would probably be my favorite topic to post about. I’m having a hard time getting back into the swing of things training wise but running will always be near and dear to my heart. It is apart of me that I will never quite understand yet will always enjoy. Running keeps me sane & makes me feel more like ‘me.’
2. What would be your dream meal?
My dream meal consists of chicken fingers, french fries all with some ranch dressing….mmmmmm! For dessert? banana cake… I’m picky yet easy to please!
3. What is your greatest pet peeve?
People that pull out in front of me then turn left. SIGH!
4. If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
I would have magical shoes that would make me fly so I could see my friends in California every other weekend.
5. What is your least favorite exercise?
Swimming! I can swim, but I’m scared of drowning. I love swimming at our lake house in the summer as long as I’m wearing a life vest. I am a master doggie paddler, but that’s it! My parents have a pool & I love that it’s shallow… who needs to swim when you can float?
6. If our reader’s could only read one of your blog posts, which one should they read and why?
My Chicago Marathon race recap. The race humbled me & taught me so much about myself & my ability… or my CIM Race report, because although then it wasn’t so funny, now I can laugh at all the mishaps & bask in my race PR!
