Today, we’re taking a break from healthy living bloggers and switching gears to BEAUTY! I am excited to welcome our new mommy beauty blogger Christine from 15 Minute Beauty Fanatic! This beauty blogger is also a doctor (pediatrics), so she really knows what she’s talking about!
Since Christine’s on a blogging maternity leave for a bit, her blog is featuring all kinds of fun guest posts by other beauty bloggers, so head over and check it out!
Also, because Christine’s blog rocks, it’s been nominated for About.com’s Reader’s Choice Award for Best Beauty Blogger. Vote for Christine!
1. Tell us a bit about your blog?
I started blogging about four years ago at the suggestion of my husband. I was constantly going to other people’s blogs and answering questions in the comments section, correcting medical information or even just discussing nail polish. I had a huge list that I was visiting every night! He told me to just start my own site, so I did.
My name was chosen purely out of a lack of creativity. I’m really not a morning person, and at the time I usually ended up with about 15 minutes to put on makeup, style my hair and get dressed and out the door each morning. This is really not an easy feat for a high maintenance girl!
Over time my blog has evolved, and now for the last several years I’ve been concentrating a bit more on skin care and the science behind some beauty products. I still feature pretty much any product category, but I like items to be new and different. I love to explain to readers how their skin works or why a certain type of sunscreen is different than another. As a physician, seeing the information that is presented to the public about products and beauty topics sometimes makes me angry. I tend to be a doctor that likes to spend time explaining things to patients in normal language and I think that’s translated over to the blog.
2. If you could only use three beauty products for the rest of your life, what would they be?
This is really hard for a beauty junkie! I think I’d definitely need a product that could take over and do a ton of functions at one time, so I’d need to have access to a large amount of Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream! I use it on my cuticles, to moisturize any dry skin and even on my lips. Next I would need a stick foundation that could double as a concealer, probably the one from Stila. Last I would need mascara- I feel naked without it!
3. What is your greatest pet peeve?
I really hate it when companies try to mislead the public by misrepresenting what is in their product or how well it works. This happens a lot more than one would think.
4. If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
The ability to always look perfectly put together! The other more obvious super powers (like flying and x-ray vision) would change my life too much. I’m pretty happy the way I am. If I could always look perfect then I wouldn’t need to worry as much about staying up late or being frazzled as a new mommy.
5. What is your beauty obsession?
My readers don’t really realize how much I love nail polish. I have about 550 or so nail polishes. Until recently I kept this under wraps a little bit, but I’ve decided to just embrace it. I’m featuring a lot more nail polish and the readers seem to like it! I’m currently concentrating on current polishes, but will likely show some of my hard to find, long discontinued polishes as well.
6. If our reader’s could only read one of your blog posts, which one should they read and why?
My Sunscren 101 post on “How to Pick The Right One for You and Use it Properly!” Sunscreen is the number one thing that anyone can do to improve their skin and help prevent aging. It’s easy and simple, but it is amazing how many of us don’t wear it or don’t use it properly.
