Today, we’re getting to know Lauren from the healthy living blog, Run Yoga RepEAT. This busy college student is studying nutrition and dietetics and still has time to get outside and stay active as well as cooking healthy recipes! As you can probably guess from the title of her blog, she really enjoys running and yoga, although she’s been running since she was 13, so she definitely knows her stuff!
So here’s Lauren!
1. Tell us a bit about your blog?
Hey! My name’s Lauren, and I blog at Run Yoga RepEAT.
My blog covers lots of topics: recipes, healthy eating, chocolate (lots of it!), fitness, training for my next half marathon, studying nutrition, and various thoughts from my day.
My blog’s still a baby! I’ve only been blogging since November, but I’ve learned so much since then and am still learning. I came up with the title in the fall when I was doing a lot of running & yoga, and basically switching back and forth between them. A few weeks later, I realized my name also had the word eat in repeat, which is pretty cool.
My favorite topic to blog about is probably balance. It’s hard to balance school, fitness, healthy eating, and a social life, so I love sharing tips that I learn along the way.
2. If you were stranded on a dessert island and could only have 3 foods, what would they be? I know, this must be a nearly impossible question for a food blogger!
What a hard question! Probably, dark chocolate, oats, and a random mix of nuts. Hopefully the island is covered in tropical fruit trees, so I have some sweet treats to eat!
3. What is your greatest pet peeve?
Gum chompers annoy me to no end! In seriousness, though, I’d say having a closed mind. Everyone has their own opinions, but some people will not listen to my ideas because they are so set on their own ideas. Some of the best conversations come out of discussing or arguing opinions. It’s always fascinating to hear another perspective.
4. What does your typical workout routine look like? What are your favorite moves?
I’m in the middle of a half marathon plan so I run about 4 days a week – one speed workout, 2 shorter/medium runs, 1 long run, and an easy recovery day. Most of them end up being hilly too because I am surrounded by hills where I live! I thrive on variety, so I also do yoga, weights, and spinning class during the week.
In the winter, I’ll snowboard a lot (killer leg workout), and in the summer, I love hiking, as well as swimming, tubing, and water skiing. As long as I’m moving, I feel good.
My all-time favorite exercise move is planks. It may sound weird, but I love the ab burn from planks!
5. What’s a food that you’ve recently discovered that you can’t get enough of?
Chia seeds! I just bought my first bag of them a few weeks and have been using them everyday. They are great in overnight oats, and I’ve been throwing them in smoothies too. I think they’re kinda magical because I ate them before my long run this past weekend, and it ended up being my best run in months!
Chocolate Chia Seed Overnight Oats!
6. What is one of the main reasons you blog?
When I discovered the healthy living blog community last summer, I was so inspired. I read and discovered new blogs everyday, and I finally started my own. I am passionate about living my own healthy life, and I hope to inspire and motivate others towards health through my blog. The blog community is so encouraging in general, and I love being able to contribute to it all.
7. If our reader’s could only read one of your blog posts, which one should they read and why? Please include the link.
I have a few serious ones about hunger & childhood obesity to check out, but here’s a really fun one I did a few weeks ago all about cookie dough! If you love cookie dough & want to eat it in a variety of ways, check it out. Yum!
