For this week’s Getting To Know You feature, we’re featuring the lovely Gabriela, who blogs over at Une Vie Saine. This student and foodie is trying to lead a healthy life  while living in the Big Apple! As you might be able to guess, she can speak French, so if you want to know what her blog name translates to, keep reading to find out more about Gabriela and her blog!

1. Tell us a bit about your blog?

I’ve been blogging since the fall of 2009, but didn’t really get into it until January 2010. The title “Une Vie Saine,” means A Healthy Life in French. I’ve spoken French my whole life, so it seemed like an appropriate title to describe me! Currently, I blog about my daily eats and workouts, though I also throw in fun tidbits like recipes, fun events and just general life musings. I blog about the things that I’m passionate about!

2. If you were stranded on a dessert island and could only have 5 foods, what would they be?

I thought this question would be impossible, but it’s actually pretty easy now that I think about it!

1. Cereal (any kind!)

2. Dark chocolate

3. Apples

4. Hummus

5. Pitas (to go with the hummus!)

3.  What is your greatest pet peeve? What puts a smile on your face?

My biggest pet peeve is lateness. I’m not talking about people getting stuck in traffic or being a few minutes behind schedule occasionally, I’m talking about the people who are chronically late for everything. To me it just lacks respect for other peoples’ time!

Nothing puts a smile on my face more than bonding with the people I love. I’m the happiest on low-key nights in, just spent chatting, eating and having fun. The people in my life are what matter the most to me.

4. What does your typical workout routine look like? What are your favorite moves?

For my weekly workout routine, I try to incorporate about 4 days of cardio, 2 days of strength, a rest day and occasionally some yoga. A sample schedule might include an elliptical session on Monday, a strength-training class Tuesday, a spin class Wednesday, a light cardio session + yoga on Thursday, another strength training class on Friday, more spinning on Saturday and rest on Sunday.  I really love group exercise classes for weight training- I just can’t push myself without the motivation of an instructor!

5. What are a few of your favorite recipes ever (feel free to include links if you want)?

I love to cook, bake, and come up with easy new recipes! Some of my favorites include my Double Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies, my Dark Chocolate Peanut-Banana Breakfast Pudding, and my ridiculously decadent Chocolate Car Bomb Cake. Can you tell I love chocolate?

6. If you could only eat one dish for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Hands down, the raw mint chocolate sundae from Pure Food and Wine in New York City. I honestly have no idea how they do it, but it’s hands-down the best thing I’ve ever eaten in my life!

7. If our reader’s could only read one of your blog posts, which one should they read and why?

Going along with my response to the last question, I’m going to say this recent post, about a meal I had at Pure Food and Wine with two blog friends. It’s my all-time favorite restaurant, I had one of my all-time favorite meals, and the company was absolutely incredible. It was a very memorable night, and I love being able to reread the post!
