Erin Whitehead of The Fit Bottomed Mamas is our guest feature this Monday, and we’re beyond thrilled. We love reading their advice on all things parenthood, and they pull information from reliable sources into easy-to-read posts. Keep reading to learn more about Erin, and what led her to write for the Fit Bottomed Girls’ spinoff, Fit Bottomed Mamas!

Tell us a bit about your blog.  How long have you been blogging? How did you come up with the title of your blog?  What are you favorite topics to blog about?
Fit Bottomed Mamas is the spin-off of Fit Bottomed Girls; it just made sense to start writing about my parenting experiences and trying to stay fit and healthy with a kiddo. Favorite topics to write about are some of the crazy experiences you deal with in being a parent–it’s a job you go into with no idea of what to expect! I think it’s super important for women to know they’re not alone, whether it’s with the sleep deprivation, the struggle to find time for themselves or trying to set a healthy example for their families.

If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
The Bible, both because it’s always been on my to-read list and because it’s so massive that you could definitely spend a lifetime reading, rereading and analyzing it.

What is your greatest pet peeve?
I have so many, so I’m not sure I can say what’s the greatest, but I will say: rude drivers who think they’re the only ones on the road. Hate that.

If you were stranded on a dessert island and could only have 5 foods, what would they be?
Strawberries, avocados, cheese, bread and chocolate.

What are your favorite workout moves?
I love step-ups onto a bench or stair followed by a lunge back. Oh, the burn and effectiveness!

What tips do you have for people who are intimated to start getting healthy?
Baby steps! Don’t try to do too much too fast or you’ll burn out or feel like a failure as soon as you make one mistake. So start making little healthy changes and they’ll add up!

Besides healthy living, what’s another important part of your life?
My family! My husband, daughter, kid-to-be and dog are impossible to ignore. Which is good because they’re fun. (Except for the part where kid-to-be has stolen all of my energy!)

What website do you love, but kind of also hate?
Young House Love. I love all of their DIY, home improvement and home decor ideas but I also kind of hate them because I don’t actually have the time to implement any of them in my own home. Which isn’t their fault; it’s totally mine.

If our readers could only read one of your blog posts, which one should they read and why?
A tough call, but this one about misadventures in stroller workouts is a good representation of what it’s like to try to fit in fitness with an infant around!http://fitbottomedmamas.com/2011/08/misadventures-in-stroller-workouts/

I think their mentality is great to staying fit while being a mother. Being a mother of 3, I know that it is very common for moms to lose themselves and not take care of themselves. I am definitely going to check out this blog now. I gotta stay around for the little kinders!
