The fall 2013 shows are underway at New York Fashion Week, and even though we still have Paris, London and Milan fashion weeks to go, I’m already seeing two major trends.
Fur looks like it will be in high-demand come fall (sorry animals). Personally, I’ll stick to faux fur because I don’t need PETA banging on my door. Fur coats, scarves, caplets and even gloves were seen on the runways.
I avoid fur coats at all costs because I don’t want to look like Cruella DeVille. A (fuax) fur scarf or snood is a much better option because you can still look fashionable and be warm without over doing it. Nordstrom has a few faux fur scarf options that are under $50.
Beauty-wise, pair your fur with a dark statement lip. This was seen on models at Vera Wang and Zac Posen. It makes sense. You wouldn’t pair bright spring shades with fall’s darker color palette.
Instead of burgundy and ruby shades, lip colors this season have more brown in them. As always, if you’re going to rock a dark lip keep the rest of your face simple and clean. Dark lipstick and dark makeup will make you look like a raccoon (especially if you also happen to be wearing a fur coat).
