I will readily identify as one of the makeup challenged. It’s sad, but true fact. So, when I find something I like and can figure out how to use it without looking like a clown, I stick to it like a really needy girlfriend. I wear my eyeliner stick down to a stub, use my mascara tubes until they’re empty and apply my eye shadow until I’m scraping the edge of the container to get the last scraps of powder. My intentions are both loyal and frugal, but I do realize that I am using my products past their expiration dates. Luckily I have found some tried and true methods for keeping my makeup kit in tip top shape so that I can get the most bang for my buck. Want to know my secrets? keep reading to find out more.
I have come to notice that most women seem to be mystified by the smoky eye. Those who know how to do them most often don’t realize that they re pretty versatile. Once you get the color shading down you can pretty much make a smoky eye out of any color scheme. Here is a natural brown smoky eye tutorial.

If you read my last post, then you know I have been into trying out and reviewing new face masks—or masques if we’re being fancy. I love face masks because they are an inexpensive way to pamper yourself. I really wanted to try a peel off mask—which I still hope to do in the future—but I could not find one at my drugstore. Instead I opted for trying the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque.
I was standing in the aisle at the drugstore for forever because I couldn’t decide between another mask and the Queen Helene (so fun to say!) one. I ended up choosing the Queen Helene mask because of what it said on the packaging. It reads: “Helps dry up acne pimples, rinse away black heads, and shrink enlarged pores.” That was it, I was sold. I struggle with acne, so anything that claims to fight breakouts is worth trying in my opinion.
We may not all be able to take a dip south of the border for an evening in the sultry heat of Buenos Aires, but everyone can get a taste of those Latin nights with Ayres body care products!
Ayres Beauty (pronounced like the “Aires” of “Buenos Aires,” not “Eye-REZ” as I’m embarrassed to admit I thought for a whole week) is a recently launched aromatherapy product company. After trying out Ayres’ bar soaps and body butter for the weekend, I found they added quite an Argentine spice to my night! These are a definite yes from me, and you should try them out too.
I have a confession to make: this isn’t really my makeup bag. But it’s red and comes closest to picturing the red pencil case I use to store what little makeup I have. Yes, a red pencil case. Though I’m a bit embarrassed by that, I’m going to embarrass myself a little more and reveal to you the contents of my “makeup bag.” According to Fit and Fab, I scored a 3/8 for the essentials to have in your makeup bag. Is it bad to say that I’m actually quite impressed by this?
Of the many things I love about summer a shiny, oil streaked face is certainly not one of them. My battle with shine has led me to three products that I can actually trust to control the reflecting mirror that is my forehead in the summer. Believe me I’ve tried it all, but with combination, sensitive skin it’s rather hard to find products I can trust. That is, of course, until I tried these.
When I discovered Zumba almost 3 years ago I became instantly hooked, and within two months I received my certification to teach. I had grown up taking dance classes, but when I moved away for school I stopped dancing and attended the group fitness classes at my gym. While I enjoyed working out, there was always something missing in my exercise routine. I loved dancing because it never felt like exercise. It was just fun. When I found Zumba, everything clicked. Zumba infuses some of the sexiest and most rhythmic dance steps into a high intensive cardio class. Some people may wonder how someone could even burn 600 calories salsa dancing. But let me tell you, it’s possible.
