Fit and Fab Living

We would like to introduce you to the new and extra fabulous www.fitandfabliving.com!

If you read my last post, then you know I have been into trying out and reviewing new face masks—or masques if we’re being fancy. I love face masks because they are an inexpensive way to pamper yourself. I really wanted to try a peel off mask—which I still hope to do in the future—but I could not find one at my drugstore. Instead I opted for trying the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque.

I was standing in the aisle at the drugstore for forever because I couldn’t decide between another mask and the Queen Helene  (so fun to say!) one. I ended up choosing the Queen Helene mask because of what it said on the packaging. It reads: “Helps dry up acne pimples, rinse away black heads, and shrink enlarged pores.”  That was it, I was sold. I struggle with acne, so anything that claims to fight breakouts is worth trying in my opinion.

The hair gods have answered my prayers. I’ve found a live-in conditioner that actually works. Unlike other products I’ve used, I can see a difference in my hair when I don’t use this product. It’s the TRESemmé Leave-in Conditioning Spray from their Split Remedy line and it’s amazing.

Recently, I’ve started trying to live a healthier lifestyle. After converting to vegetarianism, I thought the next logical step would be to exercise more. I’ve been going to the gym more regularly, and let me be frank: I hate it. However, I am 25 pounds slimmer than I was 6 months ago, so I won’t complain. To take my health-consciousness to the next level, I decided I’d start incorporating more green tea, dark chocolate, and wine into my diet. The dark chocolate and wine you’ll never hear me complain about, but the green tea is another story. I find myself asking the question: does anyone actually like this stuff?

Happy Friday! One of the best parts of my job is that I get to spend time reading other websites and blogs and visiting Pinterest for inspiration. Consequently, I come across a lot of cool stuff on the web over the course of a week.

First of all, Happy Valentine’s Day! Since Jason Wu has had my heart as of late and his Fall 2013 Ready-to-Wear Collection used red in such a stunning way, we decided he’d be the perfect NYFW designer to feature today. Read on to see why we’ve been so impressed with the work of Jason Wu, and how we plan to get our hands on some of his chic designs ASAP.

Foodies

This week, we’re happy to welcome Merilee Kern, Executive Editor of The Luxe List to discuss her thoughts on what it means to be a foodie.

Evening in Chicago, Gold Coast

It’s snowing today in Chicago, and it’s instead of “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas,” it’s beginning to look (and feel) a lot like Hoth. Yesterday, our windchill drove temperatures into negative numbers, and it put me in the mood to watch a movie. I thought I’d share some of my favorite movies with you, and have some special guests do the same.

In the summer I barley sit still. I’m always outside running, walking or riding my bike, but once winter arrives I’m the complete opposite.

I love ooh-ing and ahh-ing over amazing nail art, but when it comes to my own nails a glitter accent nail is as fancy as I’ll get. Part of it is my hand isn’t steady enough to work with such a small canvas and who has the time to do it?
