I have no idea why I felt like writing that as an old-timey newspaper headline, but I did. Anyway, people who know me know that I’m a huge tech nerd. I love having all the latest gadgets, and tend to spend whatever money I have on them. One thing I don’t spend money on though, is a data plan from my cell phone company. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my cellphone company and have been with them for nearly a decade, but I see no reason in paying for a constant data connection. There comes a time in every person’s life when they have a special talk with their parents or children about something very important. It used to be sex, now I think tech should be part of the conversation. I love technology, and I try to stay hip. My phone’s a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (we reviewed the original here), I have the new iPad (check out our 2012 gift guide for cool accessories), and I have a Windows 8 tablet and a Mac running Mountain Lion. I use Bluetooth speakers, have one of those fancy touchscreen remotes for my devices, and Siri and I have a love-hate relationship. But I’m in my 20s; the fact that my young cousins can use a tablet or smartphone just as well (if not better) than I can is scary.
