In keeping with the fitness trend this week, which kicked off with my post about the Boston Marathon on Monday, I wanted to write a post on how to make fitness fun and exciting again – or maybe for the first time. It definitely helps that spring is finally here, bringing with it more day light, pretty scenery and warming temperatures. Nothing like saying sayonara to winter to get you motivated to workout again.

If you have a hard time getting excited about exercising (we all have our moments, days, weeks, years), then here are a few tips that will get you excited to work out again!

There’s nothing worse than working out consistently week after week, but not seeing the results. Of course if you’ve only been working out a few weeks, you’re not going to see super speedy results, but over time you want to notice your body become leaner, more toned and hopefully your clothes will start fitting better.

But what happens when you don’t see those results? Don’t give up! You don’t want to get on the fast-track back to an unhealthy lifestyle. Here are some common fitness mistakes that can halt your progress, and how to fix them!

I often mention how much I enjoy going to the gym to workout. I’m there every morning before work, and that  it’s a big part of how I get my energy to function through the day.

But I know for many of you, this isn’t so. Whether it’s hard to find the time to get to the gym, the price of  gym memberships or just the fact that you hate being around people who always look super fit, it’s not the best option for everyone.

This past weekend, something happened that almost never happens. I didn’t go to the gym at all! It was one of those exhausting weekends, and even though I planned on going Sunday morning, I just couldn’t drag myself there.

I know it seems like we just had a Getting To Know You post – and that’s because we did!  The holidays threw off my schedule and instead of pushing everything back a week, I figured we might as well feature two awesome bloggers this week!

Today, I am excited to present Matt Tabor and his blog, The Kitchen of  Runner. Matt, a self-proclaimed  running foodie, is a senior at the University of Alabama and works to live the most enjoyable life he can, which he accomplishes through dedication to fitness and cooking healthy food.

Check out today’s post about what’s in his freezer. This is a man that loves his bread! See for yourself!

It’s that time of year when if you’re a gym-goer, you notice a sea of shiny, new faces; and if you’ve just made that resolution to get fit, you may be embarking on that first trip to the gym. Either way,  the beginning of the year is the perfect time to keep up with the workout that you stuck to last year, or turn over a new leaf and make this year different from years of failed fitness resolutions.

Either way, it’s a good thing that the new year’s fitness hype starts in January because there’s nothing about January weather on its own that makes it easy to decide to leave your cozy, comfortable home to exercise. But if you use your renewed new year’s vigor to make it out the door, then all the better!

During yesterday’s workout, I am excited to say that I broke my previous 5k record of 23:30! Unfortunately it was on a treadmill, but I wasn’t about to venture into the arctic that is Chicagoland right now! It was one of those days where I needed to start my workout with a goal. That’s usually the best form of motivation to get me to workout.

I decided that since racing season is basically at an end, I would run my own 5k on the treadmill. I cranked the speed up to a harder pace than usual and just started running, hoping I could make it through the 3.1 miles without stopping.

This week was makeover week! The contestants got new clothes, a new hair style courtesy of Jessica Simpson’s hair stylist and they walked a runway for a breast cancer charity (Warriors in Pink) fashion show!  The contestants also found out that they were going to be featured in an upcoming issue of People magazine.

Last night I came home, cooked dinner and was ready to jump onto the couch and watch television.  It was one of those days!  Just as I was heading toward the couch, I realized that my fiancé had monopolized the television—he had to decided to drag out the Wii Fit.  After 900 hundred plus days of not touching the game (the Wii Fit tells you when you last played the game), he wanted to get back into a routine of playing a little bit each day.
